Lovely story Jules and Margaret ! ☺ so descriptive, and great collaboration ! Perhaps they'll be more in the future 🤩 A truly fabulous and very versatile artist.
Great story that will forever be remembered and adds so much to the poster/print. Personally, I have always loved Hockney's photo montages, which I think he referred to as "joiners." In his early years, he was also quite critical (and damning) of photography as a fine art form. Yet, he transformed it into a medium that uniquely captured time and was entirely different than standard long exposure photography.
Yay! This is the Jules/Margaret mashup I've been waiting for! Looks like the universe wanted you to be in Hockney's orbit that day, Jules. Just magic. Thank you for sharing this story and the sweet painting of Normandy. I adore Hockney's use of color and whimsical approach to his subjects. I went to see his portrait exhibit at the LACMA in 2018 and was just blown away. Will you be able to see his show in Paris? Dying to go.
Thanks Hilary, yes it was very surreal and not a little woo-woo! I doubt I'll get to Paris but luckily he is very prolific so there's always something of his to see. He is more or less a local artist for you! 😃
Great story! I have a Hockney canvas print in my living room and I went to see the ‘a year in Normandie’ exhibition too. I love his versatility and experimentation. Thank you Jules and Margaret.
Marvellous. We have a print of Hockney's The Grand Canyon over our dining table, which I brought back from Salts Mill. I was travelling by train on that trip, visiting a friend in Leeds, and kept the poster carefully rolled. I got a local gallery to frame it when I got home. On a return visit, this time with my husband, he said that the burger he ate at Salts Mill was the best he ever had. Whenever he has a burger now, I always say, 'Ah, but is it as good as the one you had at Salts Mill?'

Thanks Angie! He's a legend isn't he? Thanks so much for reading, and for the lovely comment! X
It is lovely and all Jules’s work. I am merely the host. Thanks so much for reading Angie. He really is a wonder.

I love the photo collages too, Michael. The way they play with perspective is amazing. So clever. But then I enjoy all his work! Thanks for reading 😊

He’s so brilliant at making things look effortless and his colour is gorgeous. I also love his style too.

Great, isn't he Julie? I like every phase of his work.
So many facets to him.
A wonderful story, and I love how you describe the feelings you get from looking at the picture.
Thanks, Mike! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Yes the restaurant there is good! We had a bite to eat afterwards and I kept the napkin. It had a picture of his dachshund Stanley on it!

Yes the food there is good! I was recently listening to him talking about the Grand Canyon and how he depicted it. Thanks for reading Maria!
