Really interesting Margaret, I never knew this. The pictures are really fascinating, so good to see women at the top of their game.

Wow! What an inspiration! I’d never heard of her either. Her images are sublime and I love that she championed color. We need that spirit now. Thanks for sharing, Margaret. An excellent and engaging read as always.

Really enjoyed reading this. A fascinating insight into her work and significance. Her experimentation with colour photography I may weave into something I'm currently writing - so thank you!

Really enjoyed this piece. Stunning photos, great bio. In my research into astrology, I've put Etruscan goddess Minerva as = to greek Athena. Since Athena won rulership of the seas from Posiedon, I give Minerva the same and so have her ruling Pisces.

Thanks CG. Yes that sounds right about Athena.

Fascinating post. The warmth and richness of the color is what makes film superior to digital (in my opinion). I also love the lighting. Photography is painting with light, and the beautiful glow down the owl is masterful.

Fascinating, Margaret. Did not know about Madame Yevonde. (Or the connection with the Day Lewises!)

I had never heard of Madame Yevonde, so I found this really interesting. At first sight the pic of Aileen Balcon as Minerva at the top of the piece struck me as being from the 1970s with its grainy texture. I was surprised to see that it was from 1935. Same for the pic of Medusa. What an exciting photographer she was. Delicious images. Thanks Margaret, it's always a good day when I learn something new! 😃
